Letter From The Editor: April

It’s Spring!

It’s Spring!

It’s Spring!

Don’t you just love LA?  I mean, people, this is the best place to call home!  Sure we gripe about the traffic on our freeways and snarl at the long lines of cars at stop lights, but come on—what other place combines such beautiful weather, beautiful scenery and beautiful people?

Now, I’ll grant you, some people who are beautiful on the outside aren’t so beautiful within.  Today, I’ve been dealing with some moderately famous people (I won’t name names) who have been among the most ill-tempered, unreliable, and simply unprofessional people I’ve ever encountered.

But (and this is my main point) how long can you stay upset when it’s spring and you live in one of the world’s greatest cities?  So you butt up against a butt-head or two.  There are a lot of other people in this town who are as lovely and welcoming as a spring breeze.

Take my new assistant editor, David Seidman.  I’ll admit, I had doubts about hiring him.  He’s been in journalism for decades, and I thought he’d be bored  working for a rag that focuses on fame and fashion.  Well, if he’s bored, he doesn’t show his feelings in his work.  I’ve been a bundle of stress recently—we’ve been getting this issue out as I’ve been preparing to leave for Paris—but David’s calmly turned out BHT copy as if he’s done it all his life.

Think about the people who bring spring into your own life.  Whether it’s the son or daughter who aggravates you one minute but fills you with teary-eyed pride the next, or the spouse who keeps you going when you’re exhausted—cherish them.  They’re the springtime of your life.
