GQ Cuts started as a small town shop providing the simple service of haircuts. It took close to three months to renovate and revamp a local warehouse building into the best kept secret in the Down- town area of La Puente. As word spread …business boomed with a growing growing cliental. A major contributor to the growth of GQ Cuts is Head Stylist Gabriel (Bonxxx) Mendoza, hired in 2008. With Mendoza on board, the shop has advanced to the capability of a diverse and creative edge.
Gabriel ‘Bonxxx’ along with shop owner Gabriel ‘GQ’ Quinones create styles from male fades, specialty design logos and art work, to color and full head extensions. With salon owner Gabriel ‘GQ’ driving the direction of the salon, that has branched out to celebrity, television and fashion runway work, Gabriel ‘Bonxxx’ can offer clients the true potential of his work. Their assistant Richard Bonner is now an invaluable member of the team, with a hand in each venue in which GQ participates.
GQ Cuts has become a hair style haunt from celebrities, to kids looking to expand their creative hair look—GQ has become the place to go to get the haircut you want and the atmosphere every client deserves. In little more than a year the shop has been tagged for several hair fashion shows within Beverly Hills, Hollywood and in and around L.A., styling hair on everyone from runway models to high-profile television personalities, fashion week participants and monthly style gigs.
“Never did I imagine I would be doing hair fashion shows. I just wanted to make a difference in my small town, said Gabriel ‘GQ’ Quinones, salon owner. “We’ve been given so many amazing opportunities to showcase our work. It’s been the best experience I’ve ever had in a workplace. I am able to make a difference and do what I love—hair!”
