Dr. Joseph Naim, MD, FACS is Board-Certified and served as the Clinical Assistant Professor at University of California, Irvine Medical Center, Department of Surgery.  This is where he saw a life-saving and life-changing need to help people suffering with the physical and emotional scars of Morbid Obesity.  A Diplomate of the American College of Surgeons, Naim did a Fellowship in Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons.  He has offices in L.A., Long Beach, Orange County and Beverly Hills.  Naim has performed more than 1,000 Lap-Band procedures.  One facility where he performs the Lap-Band procedure on an out-patient basis is South Pacific Surgery Center.  The  Center is owned/ managed by Simin Hashemizadeh.  She offers state-of-the-art surgical excellence and unsurpassed patient care.  In addition to the Lap-Band procedure, the facility offers General Surgery, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Gynecology, Podiatry,  Ears, Nose & Throat, Ophthalmology, Urology,  Gastroenterology, Orthopedic, Pain Management and more.

“Losing weight is a life-changing experience, especially for those who are more than 50 pounds over-weight  and face severe health issues because of their weight.  Some people tend to think about Bariatric surgery for years before they make a decision to have it done.  Because this surgery affects a person’s life so dramatically, it is important that they learn everything there is to know about the surgery and what to expect from their doctor.  As a part of our program we offer dietary and psychiatry evaluation and our staff helps each patient through the insurance verification process.”

WHY the LAP-BAND is so POPULAR

• No Hospital Stay

• Fast Recovery

• Financing Available

• Covered by PPO Insurance

•  No cutting/stapling of the stomach

• 100% Reversible

• Minimally Invasive

“Many patients have health-related obesity problems, but with weight loss most of them improve and some are completely resolved.  These include: Diabetes, Hypertension, Sleep Apnea  and Arthritis to name a few.  Lap-Band surgery is minimally invasive and takes about  45 minutes to perform.  There is no bleeding, patients report minimal pain and are back to normal in 2-3 days.”

HOW IT WORKS

Lap-Band surgery was approved by the U.S. FDA in 2001.  The device is made of a silicone that fastens around the upper stomach to create a new, tiny stomach pouch. Patients experience a sensation of fullness and are satisfied with smaller amounts of food.  Rate of weight loss is 1-3 lbs. a week.  The surgeon adjusts the size of the device to meet individual patient needs by adding or removing saline to inflate or deflate the band to determine the amount and consumption rate of food.  The Lap-Band adjustment is performed during simple out-patient visits in the office.

“After Lap-Band surgery  a patient’s eating habits change. For the first two weeks after surgery, a patient is instructed to be on a liquid diet;  followed by two weeks of a puree diet.

From then on, each meal consists of about three ounces.  Post-operatively a  patient needs periodic adjustments ranging from three to six “fills” in the year.  People who stay on track, come in for their check-ups and follow a low-fat diet, plus regular exercise can expect excellent results.”

If you’re considering the Lap-Band schedule a consultation at South Pacific Surgery.  You’ll receive information and hear about options open to your individual needs.  Because Lap-Band surgery is crucial for the health and life- span of people, Insurance companies tend to approve the procedure.  Ask about FREE seminars in your area.

The Brockovich Report

Disclosure: Just the Facts Ma’am.

With subjects like Gardasil, it’s not simply that law and science aren’t on the same level…it’s also that we are all blind mice running in a maze with no idea which path is going to lead us to health and which path is going to take us toward the farmer’s wife with that knife that children have been singing about ever since nursery rhymes were put to music.

We won’t know what we should do now…until 50 or more years from now! Hindsight is priceless.  We can look back a few decades and say that the polio vaccine was good and Thalidomide was bad. Fifty years of medical tracking makes a big difference in the amount of information we have to work with.  There are thousands of public health issues out there right now we have to make decisions about every day.

Clean water is good, but what about polyethylene terephthate (PET)— leeching nasty chemicals into bottled water, especially after the bottles have sat in the sun or trunk of a car for a long time?  Or for that matter, plastics in the microwave?  Fly ash floating in a Tennessee river is bad. But what about the fly ash contaminated with sulphur that is compressed into drywall that makes people’s homes unlivable? That’s also bad.

Even if I’m concerned about public health issues, NO ONE has the all the answers.  We just want the power of choice and full disclosure. It’s a matter of logic and personal decision making.  If dozens of people in my family had Epstein Barr, I would stay away from Gardasil.  But if dozens of women on both sides of my family had cervical cancer, then maybe Gardasil would look a lot different to me.  For that matter, if Gardasil protects against HPV, wouldn’t it help if boys were required to be vaccinated as well? If Gardasil is so great, wouldn’t it cause a reduction in the rate of HPV exposure down the road?  So why is it not marketed to boys?  Is it a marketing issue or is there some medical reason?  NO answers here, just more questions.

If new drywall in your house smells like rotten eggs, I’m concerned.  If some pharmaceutical giant has secretly been fouling your water table and your drinking water has been contaminated with Chromium 6, I’m concerned.  If your house or park or school is built on a former superfund site and you didn’t know it and now you’re sick, I’m concerned.  I don’t have all the answers, but dude, I can sure find all the questions.  And I know some powerhouse lawyers who can bring those questions home in a meaningful way.

Not everyone responds in the same way to the same chemical.  So we need full disclosure regarding good and bad effects.  Then, people can make appropriate decisions based on their individual realities (i.e. allergies, case histories, family histories, lifestyle, personal beliefs, political beliefs).  The issue about Gardasil isn’t even an issue about Gardasil.  It is really an issue of basic freedom.  Whether it is toxic drywall, fly ash, hpv vaccines, or even plain old water, we need full disclosure.

As Americans, we should have the right to choose and the right to refuse.

It’s pretty simple.  We can’t go through life with blinders on.  There are always two sides to a coin (three if you count the edge).  The fact is that even though I’m not a medical expert and I’m not a lawyer, I always find myself walking some kind of shaky tightrope between the two— moving targets of medicine (which is always lagging) and law where the rules are always changing.  I don’t want to make some kind of medical declaration because I DON’T KNOW. But I DO know that where issues are concerned, there are a LOT more than just the traditional “two” sides.I want to advocate for full disclosure and getting the information out there for the girls who have been impacted or communities that are impacted.

If we do all that we can right now to learn and grow from our experiences, 50 years from now, we may be looking at Gardasil as a Thalidomide-type disaster, or the polio-type miracle of 2010.  But that’s a conclusion that only time will tell.

A World’s Shame: INCEST…

By Suzanne Takowsky

The revelation of actress Mackenzie Phillips concerning the years of sexual abuse/incestuous relationship that she experienced with her father, John Phillips —of the 60’s legendary music group The Mama’s and The Papas—really set tongues wagging.  Phillips says that the abuse started with her father raping her when she was 19-years old and that it continued for years until she ended up pregnant and worried that he might be the father.  She had an abortion that she says he paid for.

From the minute that Phillips’ book, “High on Arrival” hit the streets and she began appearing on talk shows, the tables turned from what she was saying —to why in the hell she was saying it.  Was she lying?  Was she trying to tarnish her father’s good  name?  Was she trying to sell books?  Was she making excuses for her past problems with drugs?  Why was Phillips speaking out now after so many years?  Shouldn’t this “family secret” have gone to the grave with her father when he died in 2001?

It never ceases to amaze me just how hypocritical we in America are.  We are arguably the most morally bankrupt and morally corrupt country in the world. Don’t believe it?  Watch our television shows, go to our movies, listen to the music our kids listen to every minute that they can…then, you tell me.  Yet, we act shocked and are in a state of disbelief when we are forced—and I do mean forced—to come face-to-face with one of our ‘dirty little secrets’.

Denial.  Now that’s a word.  Apparently a word that most Americans find more comforting than the word—reality. Because the reality of our world is that one in four girls will experience some form of sexual abuse at the hands of  a family member, friend or stranger before they hit adulthood.  As appalling as that is…consider that the U.S. is the principle destination trafficking women and children into sexual slavery.  Up to three-hundred thousand children and more—right now under our nose—are sex slaves of revolting adults, and living as their “property”.  Property.  Now that’s another word we have to consider when we are speaking about incest, sex abuse and sex slavery.  ”Property” refers to an inanimate object; some- thing you own, that you have the right to do with as you like.  Sexual predators see victims  as “their property” —not as human beings.   Consider the life of Jaycee Dugard, held a captive for 18 years and found living in boxes and tents, in the backyard of her kidnapper, Phillip Garrido.  Could she have found a way to leave.  Most certainly.  Could Mackenzie Phillips have found a way to stop the abuse?  Most Certainly.  But this is not about strength to do some- thing—this is about fear and weakness that keeps a victim from doing anything.

For Phillips, her initiation into shame and disgust for both herself and her father was fueled by the fact that she had no mother, no family member, no friend, no protector, no one that she felt gave a damn about her. And she was right.  No one cared.  Denny Doherty, co-founder of the The Mamas and The Papas knew about the father/daughter hook-up and did nothing.  Nope that’s wrong.  He did do something.  He told his daughter Jessica Woods about it.  That must have been quite a father/ daughter moment.  Woods was left with a secret she couldn’t share, and the knowledge that a girl she knew was being sexually molested by her father.  Then after watching Phillips on the Oprah show… Woods was so  buried in guilt, that she actually  wrote to  Oprah and confirmed Phillips’  story, by saying that it was true.  Saying that her father knew and did nothing.  Phillips was even astounded by  Woods admission saying, “I’m very grateful to Jessica. I never knew she knew…I don’t know how Denny Doherty knew about the relationship.”  Even half sister Chynna Phillips came forward stating to US Weekly that her sister had told her what had happened, but not until 1997.  Chynna said in the article, “Do I believe that they had an incestuous relationship and that it went on for 10 years?  Yes.”

The dysfunction of John Phillips ran far and wide.  Here is a man (I can’t really refer to him as a “father”) who felt that he was above the laws of human decency.  A man who not only was destroying himself, but wanted to take his daughter with him.   He not only did drugs in front of his daughter, but gave her and injected her with drugs as well, and very conveniently—while both were under the influence of those drugs, took what wasn’t his to take—her life.  And make no mistake, as every woman who has been though the devastation of this evil knows—John Phillips robbed Mackenzie Phillips of her life the same as if he had physically killed her.  A woman’s spirit is what keeps her going.  When her spirit dies, her desire to survive dies and she ends up a zombie going through the motions without any true feelings, without any hope, deep in shame and finding all kinds of clever ways to inflict pain and suffering on herself; What Phillips has done her entire life.

Even Phillips feels the devastating blow of her revelation and has tried to preface it with comments such as: “He didn’t set out to hurt me,” as she tried to explain to Meredith Vieira on the Today show.  ”He did the best with what he had.  He was a damaged guy.”  Sounds like a victim defending and making excuses for her abuser to me.   Damaged guy?  No Mackenzie, John Phillips was a monster.  He took what was “rape” and turned it into a “normal occurrence” that you came to see as his “love” for you.  Because any sign of attention from an asshole parent can be translated into “love” by a child or an adult who is drowning in abandonment.

Millions of females and children around the world are NOT shocked by Phillips because they have been through it or are in the midst of it.  Sexual abuse is having sex with someone against their will; “will” being that their body might be present, but their heart, mind and soul are a million miles away hoping that one day they will be able to forget.

The Drive For Single Payer

After several weeks of protests at Senate hearings and health care events by single payer advocates (visit singlepayeraction.org), six physicians from Oregon, with 191 years of combined real-world medical experience are crossing the country in a 27-foot Winnebago making stops in nearly 30 cities, to debate, educate and advance full medicare for all.  Everybody in, nobody out.

Calling themselves “Mad as Hell Doctors,” these physicians are already drawing crowds and expect thousands to turn out at each city that they visit, culminating in a large arrival demonstration in front of the White House around October 1st. (Visit www.madashelldoctors.com)

They have written President Obama asking for a meeting “to discuss the future of health care as well as the moral, social, and fiscal imperative of enacting a single-payer system for America at this moment in our history.”  The White House turned them down flat, not even leaving the door open for reconsideration. Mr. Obama has met countless times with the CEOs of large corporations, whose greed and callousness causes so much of this crisis.  Though he believes in single payer “if we started from scratch,” he has yet to meet with any single payer delegation.

The White House has shown that it lacks smarts.  The formless, waffling Obama health insurance proposal is being shattered by the Republican cluster of Limbaugh-driven lies and the Blue Dog renegades in the Democratic Party, who are busy cashing mounds of campaign checks from the so-called health business. By ignoring/excluding the majority- supported single payer approach, the White House stifles any kind of insurance reform worthy of the name.

Publicized lies are translating into fears among people who should be supporting full medicare for all. FactCheck.org reports that “a notorious analysis of the House health care bill contains 48 claims; 26 are false, and the rest are mostly misleading.  Only four are true.  For example, false are claims that the bill includes an order for end-of-life plans or health care for illegal aliens or assertions that ‘your health care will be rationed.’”  So wild are the false- hoods, fueled by runaway internet traffic, that the Republican National Committee implied in a fundraising letter that Democrats may structure the over- haul in a way to deny medical treatment to Republicans!

As with war, truth is the first casualty when it comes to the health care debate. The Democratically-controlled Congress, on its return after Labor Day, needs a wide-ranging personal, evidence-based series of public House and Senate hearings to again publicize the compelling story of avoidable suffering, fraud, waste, egregious profiteering and top executive self-enrichment—all subsidized by taxpayers.

Take the enormous and shocking information researched by Harvard Professor Malcolm Sparrow—an applied mathematician whose knowledge of health care billing schemes and regulatory deficiencies is without peer.  Mr. Sparrow is no arm- chair commentator.  He has dug deeply into the enormously comprehensive frauds on medicare and consumers found payments for medical services ordered by deceased doctors or huge payments in treatments for deceased patients—many gone for years.

Highlighting the widespread fraud on medicare by criminal behavior, he argues that these actions should be treated as “a crime problem” not just a “claims-processing problem.” Without criminal prosecutions, there is no deterrent stopping this massive robbery.  How massive? Read these words in recent testimony by Professor Sparrow:  The units of measure for losses due to health care fraud and abuse in this country are hundreds of billions of dollars per year.  We just don’t know the first digit.  It might be as low as one hundred billion.  More likely two or three.  Possibly four or five. But whatever that first digit is, it has eleven zeroes after it. These are staggering sums of money to waste, and the task of controlling and reducing these losses warrants a great deal of serious attention.

In the early 1990s, the Congressional Government Accounting Office estimated that billing fraud accounts for 10% of health care spending annually. That would be about $250 billion this year.  In 1993, Attorney General Janet Reno declared that health care fraud was the number two crime problem, after violent crime in the country.  With some- one as carefully authoritative as Malcolm Sparrow, the Democrats can make this crime spree front and center during the health care debate.  People want to be assured that their health insurance dollars are protected.  Instead, the “license to steal,” which is the title of Mr. Sparrow’s groundbreaking book, continues. And, the Republicans continue to sidetrack priorities for action with seedy prevarications.

It is a remarkable commentary on the state of the White House and Congress that the Democrats appear befuddled in dealing with the kind of coarse, cruel, fear-mongering that an FDR and Lyndon Johnson would have overwhelmed, and sent packing.  Meanwhile, join the “Care-A-Van” of roadtripping Oregon physicians and their efforts to bring the message of health care for all to Washington, DC.

Make a Difference In The World…

It starts with you.  Time is always ticking, so live life to the fullest!  I had a client recently that put so much energy into other people and her job, that when her doctor told her that she didn’t have much time to live, immediately found me and called.  In her session, I saw everything that the doctor said to her, including why she had the  illness.  She gasped, “ How do you know all of this?” I responded…My dear, timing is everything.  You would not have heard about me, and you would not be in this chair if you didn’t have a chance…

She and I took a long, hard look at the underlying reasons that contributed to her illness.  It started when her husband cheated on her.  She didn’t tell him that she knew.  She stayed with him, but let herself go. She didn’t do with her life  what she wanted to do.  God had given her the gift of painting, but she never took the time to explore her creative side.  She lived around her children and never communicated her true feelings to her husband.  She looked at her face, and complained.  She looked at her body and hated it.  I got to work!

The healing and beauty products that I carry from Paris are exclusive to my retreat.  I wrapped her in a very strong, heated blanket and used the rejuvenating products to remove toxins from her organs and cells; it made a huge difference in her health.  Studying the lines on her face, I decided to use the electro-facelift machine from Paris; it removed the lines from her face, toned the muscles and literally took five years off her face; it went a long way to removing her insecurities.  I put her in the most luxurious, glamorous, big white bubble bath with the very best ingredients to remove cellulite, toxins, and renew cells.  I always see women worrying about the next beautiful woman walking past them.  Darlings, love what you see when you look in the mirror.   Walk with that love-buzz you have for yourself.

BIG BOOM: I heard screaming in the room, “Oh my God…what is that?” There was black all around the bathtub I said my dear, that is the energy that you hold within.  Toxins are being removed. She looked at me with innocent eyes and now looking five year younger and said, “I can’t believe that came out of me.” She took a quick, cold shower and we were on to the next phase.  I put her through the LPG Technique I learned in Paris; she lost 3-4 inches from her body.  Then our spiritual journey began.  I pulled her in a spiritual, high power bath, asking God to take away her illness.  She later said it was as if she went to heaven; she saw white lights in her eyes and was astounded.  The anger she had for her husband, the fear of her illness—went away. She felt lighter.  The information from the readings I gave her, she applied to her life and health.

She called at the end of the week and told me that her illness was gone.  My dear, timing is everything, loving yourself, enjoying your life, communicating, there won’t be any room for negative thoughts in your mind, I told her.   She said she made love to her husband like never before; that she forgave him; and realized that she had not paid any attention to him!  She had allowed jealousy, anger, and lack of communication with those around her to shorten her life.

It’s very important for you to love yourself—and everyone else.  It automatically connects you to God. Breathe; live life, and be happy.  God bless!

WE NEED SUNLIGHT TO DISINFECT THE LEGISLATIVE PROCESS

During the August recess, many of the legislators heard an unexpected amount of discontent from their constituents concerning what is happening on Capitol Hill—particularly regarding healthcare.

Some people are justifiably terrified at what the government could do to healthcare, should it get its claws even further into it.  Others demand a public option for health insurance and are adamant that healthcare be treated as yet another absolute entitlement.  One thing that every- one agrees on is that the final bill needs to be read and understood by all legislators before a vote is taken. To any American, this is common sense.  In Washington, this is unlikely to happen.

There is much confusion and debate over what is and is not in the reform plan bein considered.

• Are there or are there not so-called death panels?

• What are the end-of-life consultations really for?

• How will private insurance be affected?

• Will you be able to keep your current plan or will you eventually be forced into a government plan?  • Will it pay for elective abortions or not?

• What are the implications for medical privacy?

The truth is that no one knows what will be in the final bill until it is on the House floor.  And provisions could be added in, and taken out in the wee hours of the morning before.

In February, the House was forced to vote on a more than 1,000 page “stimulus” bill that had first been posted on the internet just after midnight the morning of the vote.  It passed.  Then, in June, House leaders rushed a vote on the cap-and-trade bill, even though an over 300 page “manager’s amendment” making substantive changes to the bill was introduced shortly after 3:00 a.m., the morning of the vote.

Washington thrives on crisis.  If enough people can be convinced that we are in an emergency, they will more likely tolerate rushing legislation to the floor like this.  Last minute changes will be slipped in, benefitting who knows what special interests and at what expense to the taxpayer.  But the mantra is repeated over and over: We are in a crisis. We must act immediately.

It should be unconscionable for legislators to vote in favor of legislation that they have not had the opportunity to read.  This is why I have re-introduced the Sunlight Rule, H.Res 216. The Sunlight Rule prohibits any piece of legislation from being brought before the House of Representatives unless it has been available to read for at least 10 days.

The Sunlight Rule allows citizens to move for censure of any House Member who votes for a bill in violation of this act.  Because the Sunlight Rule could never be waived, any Member could raise a point of order requiring any bill in violation to be immediately pulled from the House calendar until it can be brought to the floor in a manner consistent with this rule.  This rule does not require that Members read the bills.  It merely guarantees the opportunity to do so.  It has four cosponsors.

Justice Louis Brandeis famously stated, “Sunlight is the best disinfectant.”  The Sunlight Rule would do much towards negating the cycle of pseudo-crises and cleaning up the legislative process here in Washington.  I sincerely hope that this is the year Congress remembers its deliberative duties and passes it.

Dr. Nikolas Chugay: Look Beautiful, Younger & Healthier!

Dr. Nikolas Chugay is a leading California Cosmetic, Plastic Surgeon and an acknowledged specialist in facial and body sculpting and implant surgery for more than 30 years.  He is sought out for his artistry and keen sense of beauty by an international clientele—many of whom are high- profile celebrities.  Chugay states, “I can’t make you a star, but I can make you look like one!”

Dr. Chugay is always seeking the cutting-edge and exciting ways to enhance his patients’ health and beauty.  I talked to him recently about his revolutionary Tongue Patch for healthy and effective weight-loss and his Stem Cell Treatment.

THE “MIRACLE PATCH“ FOR FAST WEIGHT LOSS

JG: You recently began performing a groundbreaking weight reduction procedure, which we hear has been called, “The Miracle Patch.”

Dr. Chugay: Yes.  This patch, when surgically applied to the tongue produces a means of weight loss never before offered by other surgeons.

JG: How does it work?

Dr. Chugay: During a reversible procedure that takes less than an hour, the patient is fitted with a custom patch for the tongue which makes chewing solid foods difficult and painful, limiting the patient to a liquid diet.  The patient is put on our easy to follow liquid diet, which fulfills all of their nutritional needs while minimizing caloric intake.

JG: What are the results and the recovery time?

Dr. Chugay: Recovery is rapid and patients are typically able to return to work the next day.  Patients have lost as much as 20 pounds in the first month after the surgery.

STEM CELL TREATMENT

JG: What about your Stem Cell Treatment?  This sounds fascinating!

Dr. Chugay: Stem cells have become a hot topic of conversation in the field of medicine.  They are characterized by the ability to renew themselves, which has obvious implications for rejuvenation.  Recent developments in Stem Cell research have allowed Stem Cells to be grown and trans- formed into specialized cells with characteristics consistent with cells of various tissues such as muscles, nerves and even fat.  Adult Stem Cell treatments are now on the forefront of studies looking at Stem Cell therapy that could be used to treat a variety of diseases such as Parkinson’s, cancer and even spinal cord injury.

JG: How does your Stem Cell treatment work to make your patients more beautiful and youthful?

Dr. Chugay: I began using Stem Cell technology to augment the amount of fat that can be retained in buttock augmentation surgery and facial rejuvenation.  In both surgeries, I invite a biochemist to join the procedure to harvest Stem Cells from the patient.  Using state of the art equipment, the biochemist is able to extract the Stem Cells.  These cells are in turn added to the patient’s fat cells and then injected into the desired areas.

JG: What are the risks of rejection?

Dr. Chugay: Since the specimen comes directly from the same person, the risk of rejection does not exist.

JG: Can we have a complimentary consultation for all of your services?

Dr. Chugay: Of course, and I welcome your readers to stop by for a complimentary consultation to talk about how we can help them feel and look healthier and better as well!

How Unhealthy Is Your Lifestyle?

1. SUGAR.  One way or another we all have a sweet tooth and sugar-topped and filled food and desserts taste so good.  But the power of “so good” packs an evil punch.  There is NO nutritional factor in sugar, except that is—high calories, low energy, mood swings and a  nasty conversion of it being turned into FAT.

2. SWEETNERS.  We know sugar is not healthy so we choose sweeteners such as Equal, Sweet n’ Low, Splenda or drink diet drinks we think are better than their original counterparts.  The bad news is that sweeteners are WORSE than good, old, fashion sugar.   Why?  Sweeteners manipulate our metabolism by slowing it down and causing a decrease in calorie burning, plus contribute to weight gain.

3. SATURATED FATS. Eating foods that contain saturated fats raises the level of cholesterol in the blood and  increase the risk of heart disease and stroke.  Saturated fats are found  naturally in many foods.  The majority come from animal sources such as meat and dairy products such as fatty beef, lamb, pork, poultry with skin, lard, cream, butter, cheese and dairy products made from whole or reduced-fat (2 percent) milk. These also contain dietary cholesterol.

4. SODIUM.  Sodium is found in most foods and the most common form is sodium chloride—table salt.  Processed foods and meats like bacon, sausage, ham, canned soups and fast foods are generally very high in sodium.  Also an excess consumption of sodium contributes to  high blood pressure. Healthy individuals can eat no more than 2,300 mg per day; if you have high blood pressure consume no more than 1,500 mg per day.

5. LACK OF SLEEP.  Serious health issues result from not getting proper rest. The most obvious side effect of lack of sleep is reduced energy.  However, it’s much more than not feeling our best.  The human body performs less efficiently when we are tired.  Productivity, our memory—our body functioning and efficiency are reduced when we are tired. The body needs rest to repair tissue, cope with stress and recharge the immune system.  Lack of sleep slows down our metabolism and decreases our capability of burning unwanted calories—which  results in weight gain.

6. ALCOHOL.  Physical effects of alcohol may be reversed if you stop drinking, but some side effects are permanent.  Alcohol can be addictive and when abused can result in heart and liver disease, increase complications in existing health issues and even death.  Most alcohol drinks carry high levels of calories causing an excess storage of unwanted body fat.

7. CAFFEINE.  Caffeine is a picker upper, but its absorption running through our bodies is a sponge-like-effect absorbing nutrients we need.  Pay attention to body symptoms of caffeine addiction which result in jitters and migraine headaches.
