Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Councilmember Jan Perry, Filmmaker Josh Tickell & Producer Rebecca Harrell Tickell, Dan Jacobson, Denny Zane, Dan Witzling, Matthew King, Damon Nagami, Katherine Nguyen, Ron Silverman, Ruben Aronin, Chris Urisitti of LA Center Studios & Greenhouse, Peter Fonda, Richard Greene, James Kyson Lee, Q’Orianka Pilcher, Chris Paine, Agape Choir and non-profit organizations got together for “LA GET OFF OIL DAY” & Eco Car Parade, produced by the award-winning team from the biodiesel documentary, “FUEL”.
The Award Winning Documentary Film-FUEL launched its DVD release in June and Josh Tickell, Director of FUEL, focuses on sustainable energy and environmentally conscious films with a social impact. Having grown up in the bayous of South Louisiana, Tickell has a personal interest vested in this global catastrophe. His film FUEL won the 2008 Sundance Film Festival Audience Award for Best Documentary. The movie was released theatrically in the U.S. in 2009 and played for over a year, reaching critical acclaim in over 50 cities. Rebecca Harrell Tickell, Producer of FUEL, recently launched her book, “Hot, Rich & Green” outlining successful women entrepreneurs in the eco- movement. FUEL was produced by Greg Reitman of Blue Water Entertainment, Dale Rosenbloom of Open Pictures, Daniel Assael, & Darius Fisher.
The 30/10 initiative would
accelerate the construction of 12 transit projects approved by voters in 2008 in Measure R from the current 30-year timeline to ten years. Benefits of the 30/10 initiative include 166,000 construction jobs; the elimination of more than 500,000 pounds of emissions; saving 10.3 million gallons of gasoline per year; and expanding transit boardings by 77 million per year while reducing by 208 million the vehicle miles traveled in Los Angeles County.
